Over the past 4-years, I have helped a local produce distributor sell fruits & veggies from small farms in the MA region to local schools, restaurants and colleges across the greater Boston Area.
Selling local produce at scale is hard for small farms for many reasons. But, in 2025, to try something new, we tested out slicing and packaging some of the apples to offer kids a fun (and tasty) way to engage with the local food system.
The slices were a huge hit so we decided to continue with the project this Fall 2026 to help bring New England’s most iconic fruit directly to more schools in the area.
The apples are professionally sliced / bagged, and they stay fresh for about 10 days in the refrigerator.
We continue to witness that when the apples are sliced, kids eat more fruit!
Thanks for your support!
